The Business Travel Show 2008 will provide the launch platform for one of the industrys most significant developments in recent years. Europcar is using the event to unveil its newly strengthened and enhanced proposition for business travellers, following the acquisition of National Car Rentals EMEA business in 2007. And if that wasnt enough reason to visit the stand, a weekends rental of a stylish Mercedes Benz SLK is up for grabs in Europcars prize draw.
The acquisition of National has made Europcar the number one rental company in the UK, representing nearly 30% of the
UK rental market, and the largest single purchaser of vehicles in the country. It also strengthens Europcars position as number one in continental Europe to make the brand a truly global player.
David McNeill, Europcar UK Corporate Sales Director says. The acquisition created a fantastic opportunity to completely enhance the product and service proposition both brands provide to businesses and their drivers. The Business Travel Show has come at a perfect time for us to unveil these exciting initiatives.
In the 9 months since the acquisition, the best working practices of Europcar and National have been integrated to deliver enhanced customer service, with some of the key benefits including one fleet, dynamic fleet planning and over 100 rental locations open 24/7. This high quality service offering is supported by a leading-edge rental contact centre for both brands plus innovative online reservation tools to give customers control of rental costs as well as support duty of care responsibilities which will be vital with the Corporate Manslaughter Act going live in April this year.
David McNeill continues: We know that having the confidence in vehicle availability is absolutely crucial to our customers. In Quarter 1 2008 we will, therefore, be piloting guaranteed fleet availability within 4 hours of reservation for all Europcar customers.
The results from the pilot will then be used to continue to enhance our service proposition, building on the combined Europcar and National fleets. By the end of Quarter 1 we aim to have the biggest
UK fleet of cars and vans in the daily rental market. Comprising 60,000 vehicles, it will include a significantly extended van fleet of 6,000 vehicles, enabling us to meet our customers transportation needs every time.
The National Car Rental Specialist Vehicle Management Centre also now supports Europcar customers, providing access to an extensive range of specialist vehicles, from 35cwt Transit Lutons, cargo box vans and refrigerated units to 12 and 15 seater minibuses and motorcycles. In addition, working in partnership with Guy Salmon Prestige Rental, Europcar customers now have access to prestige vehicles nationwide.
By the end of Quarter 1 all Europcar and National customers will also have access to over 250 locations throughout the
UK enabling them to collect their vehicle from the additional National stations in the network. Then, during 2008, Europcar will consolidate delivery and collection services for shorter distances and improvements to operational efficiency.
This is an immensely exciting time for the Europcar UK Group concludes David McNeill. We are wholly committed to supporting the corporate travel market and believe that the combination of the Europcar and National brands gives us the ability to meet the transportation needs of businesses large and small.
