Car hire set to take off with BA strike threat – Europcar extends fleet at key airports and cities over Christmas

With BA staff voting to strike over Christmas, Europcar, the UK’s leading vehicle hire company is increasing its fleet availability at all key airports and cities across the UK over the holiday period to help cope with the anticipated demand from travellers who had planned to take internal flights. However, the company is warning motorists to get booked up early as demand for vehicles across the whole of the vehicle hire market is expected to exceed supply if the BA strikes go ahead.

Catriona Lougher, Marketing Director for Europcar said: “The strikes could leave thousands with no way to get home for Christmas, potentially stranding those needing an internal flight connection following an international flight. We’re therefore working hard to increase our fleet availability to ensure customers booking now, get the car they need over the holiday period. It won’t be as fast as a flight but with Sat Nav for hire, child seats and plenty of room for luggage and gifts, we can help families get home for Christmas. However, time is of the essence and while Europcar boasts the UK’s largest vehicle hire fleet, we urge customers to get their car booked without delay as demand could be unprecedented.”
