London, September 2011 – As cycling fans make preparations for the exciting Tour of Britain this September, Europcar, the leader in car hire services in Europe, is announcing a special promotion for UK car hire.  Marking the entry in the Tour of Britain of Team Europcar, which was highly successful in the Tour de France earlier this year, Europcar UK is offering cycling fans up to 40%* off UK car hire for the whole of September 2011.

“Team Europcar has performed exceptionally well so far this year and we’re really excited about their arrival in the UK for the Tour of Britain” said Ken McCall, Managing Director, Europcar Group UK.  “We therefore thought it was fitting to mark the success of the Team with a special offer for cycling fans, to help them get round the country and follow the Tour.”

At this year’s Tour de France, Team Europcar sailed home with 10 days in the yellow jersey and a top four finish for Thomas Voeckler. Pierre Rolland also had a great race with victory on the Alpe d’Huez stage and took the white jersey for best young rider of the Tour, making the whole team instant French cycling heroes.

With cycling one of the most popular sports in the world, Team Europcar generates a fantastic opportunity for Europcar to engage with its customers who are cycling fans. Team Europcar embodies a spirit of commitment, teamwork and overcoming challenges which Europcar wholeheartedly endorses.

In September, Team Europcar will be the ones to watch at the Tour of Britain, which takes place over eight days and nine stages, with a time trial event in central London on the final day of the race.

Britain’s biggest professional cycle race kicks off in Peebles in the Scottish Borders on 11 September and finishes in London on 18 September. The Tour visits the North West, Wales, Stoke-on-Trent, Devon, Somerset and East Anglia, putting the teams through their paces.

“We wanted to reward all cycling fans who will be getting out onto the streets to see the Tour”, concluded Ken McCall.  “We, therefore, very much hope they take up our current up to 40% discount and discover the convenience and cost-effectiveness of car hire.”
